General

The Oslo Pass is a product provided by VisitOSLO as. The purpose of these Terms & Conditions is to set out the contractual relationship between you, the Oslo Pass holder, and VisitOSLO as. By purchasing and/or using the Oslo Pass, you agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions. In these Terms & Conditions, any use of the term ‘Oslo Pass’ refers to both the physical and digital Oslo Pass products, unless explicitly stated otherwise.

Oslo Pass includes free access to approx. 30 museums/attractions, free public transportation with Ruter in zone 1, 2, 3, 4V and 4N and discounts on selected sightseeing, activities, restaurants and shops. The Oslo Pass for children applies to children aged 6–17 years. The Oslo Pass for seniors is for people aged 67 and older. The museums/attractions have different age limits for children, i.e. it varies from what age you have to pay, and up to what age you can buy a children's ticket. You are responsible for checking the age limits when considering whether the Oslo Pass will save you money.

Students up to 30 years of age get a 20 % discount. The student discount is only given at Oslo Visitor Centre and at Ruter's Customer Service Centre at Oslo Central Station, and only to holders of a valid student ID card with photo. This offer is only valid for the physical Oslo Pass, not digital.

Using the Oslo Pass

The Oslo Pass consists of three parts:

  • Museums/attractions
  • Public transportation
  • Discounted offers

Your Oslo Pass must be activated when it is used for the first time. The physical Oslo Pass must be validated in the space provided with a ballpoint pen. The digital Oslo Pass, click the "Activate" button in the app.

Once activated, it is valid for 24, 48 or 72 consecutive hours depending on the product you have purchased. It is not possible to pause an activated Oslo Pass. VisitOSLO as cannot be held responsible if you activate the Oslo Pass incorrectly.

Your digital Oslo Pass must be activated within 1 year after the purchase date. After this date, the validity of your Oslo Pass will expire.

You must always keep your Oslo Pass on you and be ready to show it upon request. The Oslo Pass is strictly personal, once activated, it cannot be transferred to others. It is also not permitted to share the Oslo Pass with others. The digital Oslo Pass must always be presented through the app, use of screenshots is not permitted.

Please note that the opening hours at the affiliated offers may change due to seasonality. You are responsible for checking the availability of the offers before purchasing the Oslo Pass, to make sure the places you want visit are open. Some activities are only open parts of the year, and many places are e.g. closed on Mondays, or have limited opening hours during Christmas and Easter and on public holidays. We encourage you to visit the attraction’s website for updated opening hours and dates.

Furthermore, VisitOSLO and Oslo Pass are not responsible for irregularities limiting the use of Oslo Pass when caused by third party i.e. strikes, natural disasters and unforeseen events. In these cases, customers are required to contact the attraction/transportation operator directly.

Museums/attractions

The Oslo Pass gives you free access to the affiliated museums/attraction for the period of validity of your pass. Show the Oslo Pass to the staff at the ticket office. The Oslo Pass does not give you fast-track. The Oslo Pass can only be used once a day at each museum/attraction.

Some affiliated museums/attractions operate with timeslots but reserve tickets for Oslo Pass holders. These tickets are available on site. If there are no more Oslo Pass tickets available for the ongoing timeslot when you arrive, you'll have to wait until the next available timeslot. Affiliated museums/attractions may make a surcharge for special exhibitions. Any such surcharges will not be reimbursed by Oslo Pass or VisitOSLO as.

Public transportation

Depending on the period of validity of your Oslo Pass, you can take advantage of unlimited travel on Ruter`s buses, trams, metro, ferries and Vy local train for 24, 48 or 72 hours in zone 1, 2, 3, 4V and 4N. It cannot be used for travel on other public transport providers or in other zones.

You are responsible for making sure that your Oslo Pass is activated and valid for the entire journey when using public transport. You only need to show your Oslo Pass in case of a ticket inspection or to the driver when boarding a bus that only has a front entrance. If you are travelling without a valid Oslo Pass you will be fined up to NOK 1470 during a ticket inspection. This also applies for the Bygdøy ferry during their season. You must show your Oslo Pass to the staff when you go onboard.

Discounted offers

The Oslo Pass gives you discounts to the affiliated restaurants, activities, shops and sightseeing tours for the period of validity of your Oslo Pass. You will need to show the Oslo Pass to the staff. The discount cannot be pre-ordered unless otherwise is stated.

Refund

The physical Oslo Pass is non-refundable. The digital Oslo Pass, if purchased in the Oslo Pass app, can be refunded within 14 days if the pass has not been activated (Angrerettloven § 11). Passes that have been activated can under no circumstances be refunded. If you wish to cancel and you have ordered through the Oslo Pass app, please send an e-mail to [email protected].

VisitOSLO does not offer refunds or compensation in the following cases:

  • On digital Oslo Pass if your smartphone runs out of battery, gets damaged or the app is uninstalled with unused or activated passes.
  • If you haven't activated your Oslo Pass and you receive a fine on public transport.
  • We don't compensate you for transport or other expenses in case your Oslo Pass is not activated or in case the app isn't working. Always make sure your phone and app are working before entering public transport.
  • On Oslo Passes that have already been used to enter attractions and/or public transportation.

If you have purchased your Oslo Pass via one of our resellers, you must follow the procedure described by that party. Please contact the reseller directly.

Loss or theft

In the event of loss or theft of your Oslo Pass the product will not be replaced or reimbursed by VisitOSLO as.

Liabilities

All affiliated offers and their associated information, opening hours, terms and conditions, are published on the website www.visitoslo.com, in the Oslo Pass app and in the Oslo Pass flyer. Although we do our best to keep this information as up-to-date and complete as possible, we cannot guarantee the accuracy, validity or completeness of the information published on the website, in the app or in the flyer or that this information is fully up to date. If any of the offers associated with the Oslo Pass are unavailable or closed during the period of validity of your card, or that you were unable to use them for any other reason (e.g. because there were no available timeslots), you will not be entitled to compensation of any kind. VisitOSLO as is not liable for any service disruptions, problems gaining access to participating museums/attractions, public health violations, public safety issues, or any other form of loss or damage that may occur during your visit to one of the museums/attractions or while using public transportation.

Furthermore, VisitOSLO as is not liable for any weather or traffic conditions that may limit your ability to use the Oslo Pass, whether fully or in part.

Amendments

We reserve the right to amend these Terms & Conditions at any time. The most recent version of the Terms & Conditions that apply to the Oslo Pass will be published on the VisitOSLO website.

Applicable law

Norwegian law is exclusively applicable to these General Terms & Conditions and the Oslo Pass. Any dispute arising from or related to these General Terms & Conditions and the Oslo Pass will be submitted exclusively to the competent court in Oslo.
